Ever notice how this guy is always smirking?
I can’t help but allign myself with this guy more and more as each Christmas comes and goes.
Sorry to those who love the season; I don’t blame you… I just can’t do the same.
I still wish everyone a lovely time with family and friends, and hope that indulgences in foodstuffs are plentiful!

She’s back!
This girl eats the craziest shit from gas stations and other road-ey locations and I love the hell out of reading about it. She took a little hiatus, but is backity back!!!!
Rock on, Holly.

Left the house in the morning looking for a job, walked around for almost 7hours, found three locations that are hiring, dropped off zero resumes, found some pics.
Here they are:

If this is your guard dog…
I want to shop at your store!
This is in front of an elementary school, and I find it creepily beautiful

Alas… none of these will pay the bills.

Hey there Toronto breakfast joints, I have some news for you:
When someone orders Huevos Rancheros for breakfast they want to be filled to the brim with starchey, protein-filled deliciousness.
There should be no white showing on the plate. There should be guacamole [not avocado chunks], and there should be plenty o’ full-fat sour cream. There should be no capability to eat another meal, post-huevos. In fact, there should be a bit of a strain to stand, post-huevos.
Universal Grill: understands the huevos concept and has pretty much mastered it, AND has the loveliest servers ever.
Sunrise Grill & Crepe: not so much with the huevo-understanding-thing, nor the decent-service-thing.
Both restaurants have delicious homefries, though… just so you know.

Thanks, rain day.
Instead of slopping around in giant piles of triple-mix and getting sand granules in my ear, this morning I made these:

yam, potato, celery, eggplant, onion: boil in veggie/herb broth.
currypaste, eggplant, onion, butter, peanut butter: fry in pan… add coconut milk, brown sugar.
combine.
simmer.
puree.
mmmmm…

You may have explored littlebites I and littlebites II
but now it’s time for the third edition of what can waste my time AND yours for the low low price of… um.. no price. Just click if you’re interested. Oh man. That was anti-climactic.
- Bejewled – I am officially an addict. I saw this on the sidebar somewhere and I had flashbacks from first year university. Sitting at my non-ergonomic desk, in my old wooden chair with the decades-old scratchy fabric on it. My roomie and I sitting there playing games while our overdue papers sat waiting for some attention from us.
- Fruit Leather – This site doesn’t take much time to read. It’s not that exciting. But it DOES give some kickass instructions on how to make pocket fruit. Considering how much fruit-to-go and other bars are, and considering how GROSS fruit-roll-ups are, this is a GREAT time-consuming task that I intend to complete in the next couple of weeks.
- I Love You (x100) – At the risk of being a total corn-star, I have listed this one because it made me smile. I hope that people use it not only for their romantic partners, but also for their family members and friends. It’s a great little list of things that you can do to show you care.
- How to Enjoy Paris for Free – All I can say is that this makes my desire to travel go through the roof (the sky?) Who knows. I like it. It gets my imaginatory juices flowing.
- The Arrow of Time - This is a really neat idea. I had some friends when I was younger whose parents had a picture of each of them and their two brothers on the fridge EVERY year from kindergarten to the present. It was like seeing a little flash book of their lives. My mom does the same thing around Christmas, when she puts up all my Santa Claus pictures. It’s crazy to see.
Annnnnd to end: A beautiful photo by Lydia MacIntosh:
FAcK. that link didn’t work for the photo. and i’m done with this for the day. i’ll update later with one of her lovely photos. but you can just go to her site.

UGGGGGGH.
So this blog will likely be updated more frequently again, as I am BACK IN THE MARKET FOR A SERVING JOB.
Fake enthusiasm? Maybe real?
I miss the social aspect of working in a restaurant. But I certainly don’t miss trying to find a damn position. I must have applied to at least 30 places and NADA. Don’t they realize how fabulous I am?
I suppose I should stop typing on here and go look for some more ‘now hiring’ signs.
*sigh*

omigoodness. I just had the best trip in Montreal. I used to not like it as much, but maybe it’s because the weather in the winter is somewhere close to death-defying.
This weekend was my first SUMMER in montreal experience. And I am unbelievably happy.
I had chiens-chaud! These are little steamed hotdogs that, when you get them “all-dressed” are covered in mustard, relish, and TINY TINY, mild chopped onions! And they’re only 1.30 each! What a way to start the weekend!

chienschaud
Then we walked around old montreal, got some over-priced, but delicious icecream from a maple store, then we kept walking, and walking and walking and walking! So much walking in Montreal!
We also went to the bio-dome, where I was MUCH more interested in the different kinds of plants and trees then in the animals…. but DAMN the penguins were cute!
Sunday was a sleep-in day (as it is for most people in that party-town!). Then we dropped off a friend at the bus-station, checked our bags for the afternoon, and ventured out for WICKED FABULOUS sandwiches at a restaurant that had the most fabulous patio ever. I am sure they had more than 50 types of plants in their back terrace. Incred.
The weekend was topped off by walking up to Mount Royal to check out Tam-tams. Friends told me to go to this, and I’m SO glad I mentioned it pretty much constantly upon my arrival! It was a beautiful experience. It WILL bring me back to Montreal before the weather gets morbid!
We didn’t take any pictures at the event. I’m glad I didn’t, because I feel like I soaked all the drumming, dancing, smiling, juggling, acrobatics, and general good vibes into my skin.
But I have to link to this picture. Because just as we thought we’d seen enough, we turn around, look up into the air, and see this:

i’m pretty happy.

why are those cakes you get at big department grocery stores so popular? they are repulsive, and have the grossest texture, and make me feel like my insides are getting painted some unnaturally disgusting colours.
you know the ones i’m talking about. with the gelled on writing that usually has a spelling mistake and is better left blank:

This year, for my birthday, I got a DELICIOUS cake! Mommy knows how much I love berries, and THIS is the icing on top of it: !!!! WAYYYY Better and WAYYYY prettier.
