mary jane? mary JANE? MARY JANE!!!!!! i love you.

not THAT kind of maryjane. we’re actually not friends anymore….

THIS entry is about shoes…. inTENSELY about shoes.

I promised myself that I’d never buy a pair of fake Uggs: i lied.

I also promised myself that I’d never do that whole ‘wearing the bandana around the neck in a triangle’ thing.  i lied.

I promised myself that I would never buy those flat ballerina maryjane-style shoes:   I LIED!!

I even did the white socks!!!!

 oh i went there.

I am not good at keeping promises to myself… in fact, I plan to buy more, because despite hating them in the past, they are just so damn cute, and I hate heels.

Next:

*NOTE* This entry has been sitting my drafts for a LONG time, and I couldn’t bring myself to publish a blog about how much I want shoes. But I am writing an essay, and studying for an exam, and my frivolity is being severely stifled by a plan to budget, so I procrastinate on the interweb, and dream about new purchases .  *sigh*

better than icing

why are those cakes you get at big department grocery stores so popular? they are repulsive, and have the grossest texture, and make me feel like my insides are getting painted some unnaturally disgusting colours.

you know the ones i’m talking about. with the gelled on writing that usually has a spelling mistake and is better left blank:

gross cake

This year, for my birthday, I got a DELICIOUS cake! Mommy knows how much I love berries, and THIS is the icing on top of it: !!!!  WAYYYY Better and WAYYYY prettier.

stopped to smell ‘em

I was walking home in the crisp early evening and stopped to smell these tiny little pink buds on a tree.  A girl was biking by and caught my indulgence and smiled at me. I realized how rarely I do actually stop to smell flowers.  I kept walking and realized that the reason I stopped in the first place was because they were so pretty, so I took some flower pictures on the rest of the way home.

The first two are in front of a restaraunt with the loveliest patio I’ve ever seen.

The next two were inside a fence, and I sure did have to hang myself over the fence, bum up in the air, to get these shots.

The last three were in the front lawn of a house that always has beautiful landscaping.  Right now they don’t have a lot of flowers, mostly greenery, but this lone daffodil certainly caught my eye.

coccinellidae, eh?

that’s the name for a lady bug. I found out on wikipedia.

I was on the subway recently, on the way to Main station, and I got startled mid trip by a lady bug on the window. Right next to my head! Took out my camera right away, and took many MANY unsuccessful shots.

Ten points for those true torontonians who can tell which stations are featured in the second and third pictures!

these people took WAY better shots of some coccinellidae:

i think we’re alone now

went for a lovely skate the other morning, got some shwarma and sat and ate it in the sun in the park.  watched many dog owners… and watched an especially adorable lab follow around a woman that was rearranging the garbage in the park before trying to dig into her styrofoam of chinese food.  the dog followed her for more than 10 minutes. it was quite hilarious.

saw two love birds playing

looked up tiffany’s song on youtube and found this butchering of the song. I don’t reccomend watching all of it. it’s bad.

don’t mess with my tiffany. i’ll get my lovebirds to peck your eyes out.

hello patio season! welcome back into my life!

hot damn that makes me happy.

even though I had to wear approximately 23 layers, and hold my raspberry wheat beer in my fleece-lined brown wool mittens, it was on a patio.Cafe Diplomatico (http://www.diplomatico.ca/) was RAMMED in the middle of the day, so we were worried that we’d have to wait in line to get a patio spot. It turns out that those were the WEAK patio-goers, and that we were the true patio patrons.

This patio excursion exemplified what is beautiful about the patio experience – random drop ins! A fellow longboarder joined us for some water and a ridiculously soft bun with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and as we were almost done our main courses, a friend from out of town stopped in to have a glass of Valpolicella (which she struggled to almost finish, saying it was only slightly better than red wine vinegar).

The service was pretty awesome considering that he had a whole section inside as well as having to deal with us early-bird patio-goers. I was truly amazed with his ability to carry so many things at once. We both ordered pasta, (mine alongside chicken parmesean) :

delicious

which came out before I even realized I was hungry, only to discover that I, most definitely, was:

(that last sentence was for all you grammar nerds)
i didn’t leave a note with the bill, but I expressed great delight in my meal. the server seemed pleased.
